Blockpraktikum:
Biologische Sequenzanalyse

Summer Semester 2005


Lecturers and Tutors: Sam Ansari, Barbara Hutter

Time: April 4 to 8, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm, CIP-Pool Bioinformatik, Geb. 45, R. 104

Audience: The course is open to interested students of biology (6th or 8th semester), chemistry or pharmacy, and to students of bioinformatics (e.g. 2nd or 4th semester bachelor)

Requirements: No bioinformatical knowledge required

Contents:

1st day:  Sequenzdatenbanken, Sequence Retrieval System (SRS)2nd day: paarweise Sequenzvergleiche mit BLAST3rd day:  multiple Sequenzvergleiche mit CLUSTALW,
              graphische Visualisierung von Proteinen mit VMD4th day:  phylogenetische Bäume mit Phylip5th day:  Identifizierung von Transkriptionsfaktorbindestellen
              Identifizierung von Repeatsequenzen

Registration: Verbindliche Anmeldung per E-Mail unter Angabe von Namen, Matrikelnummer, Studienfach, Semesterzahl. Die maximale Teilnehmerzahl ist 20.

All participants will meet on April 4 at 9.00 am at CIP-Pool Bioinformatics, Campus Saarbrücken.

Schein: For interested students an examen of about one hour will be offered in the second week of the semester. A "Schein" (2 LP/Credits) can be acquired if the examen is passed successfully.

This course is taught in German language.
