Strukturbasiertes Wirkstoffdesign

Winter Semester 04/05


Instructors: Helms, Kämper, Gu, Hildebrandt, Hutter

Time: October 18 to 22, CIP-Pool Bioinformatik, Geb. 45, R. 104, starting on October 18, 2:00 pm

Audience: The course is open to interested students of biology (5th or 7th semester of human or molecular biology), chemistry or pharmacy, and to students of bioinformatics (e.g. 3rd semester bachelor).

Requirements: No bioinformatical knowledge required, basic knowledge of protein structure.

Registration: The preliminary discussion takes place on Friday, July 23, 2004, 11:00 am, building 17.1, room 1.08, Campus Saarbrücken The number of participants is limited to 20. Contact: kerstin.gronow-p@bioinformatik.uni-saarland.de.

Schein: For interested students an examen of about one hour will be offered in the second week of the semester. A "Schein" can be acquired if the examen is passed successfully.

The final examen takes place on Monday, October 25, 10:15 - 11:00 am, building 45, room 015.

The course will give you an introduction into principles and current methods of protein-structured based drug design. You will get hands-on experience in using current state-of-the-art software tools, partly developed inhouse (FlexX and BALL).
