Contents: This course will cover the dynamic modelling of biological systems, starting from simple chemical reactions up to simulations at molecular resolution. The emphasis is hereby put on the specific problems encountered in a realistic modelling within the complex biological environments. The topics include:

  • how to set up an appropriate model/description
  • continuous vs. stochastic vs. single-molecule descriptions
  • transport processes
  • numerical integration techniques
  • multi-scale approaches
